    OAuGF ICAN CHAPTER INVESTS 7TH CHAIRMAN

    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation (OAuGF) Chapter, has formally invested Dr. Busayo Ayinla Fawale, FCA, FCNA, FCSA, FCTI, FCCrFA, FCCFI, Ph.D., as its 7th Chairman for the 2026–2028 Chairmanship Year.

    The investiture and inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at Audit House, Abuja, with the Auditor-General for the Federation (AuGF) Shaakaa Kanyitor Chira, FCNA, FCCrFA, FCCFI, FCTI Ph.D, as the Chief Host brought together representatives of the ICAN National leadership, Directors of Audit (DAs), distinguished past Chairmen of the Chapter, professional colleagues and other stakeholders in the accounting profession.

    In his acceptance address, Dr. Fawale described his investiture as a call to higher service and pledged to lead with integrity, professionalism, innovation and accountability. He assured members that the new Executive Committee would work collaboratively to advance the objectives of the Chapter while strengthening professional excellence within the Office.

    He unveiled a five-pillar agenda centred on:

    • Professional development and continuous training;
    • Mentorship and succession planning;
    • Welfare and esprit de corps;
    • Strategic collaborations, visibility and advocacy; and
    • Ethics, integrity and accountability


    According to the newly invested Chairman, the administration will prioritise capacity building, deepen collaboration with ICAN National and sister professional bodies, promote ethical leadership and create opportunities for professional growth among members.

    Earlier, the immediate past Chairman of the Chapter, Chief Anthony Olusegun Ogunyemi, FCA, reflected on the achievements recorded during his tenure and expressed appreciation to the AuGF, members of the Executive Committee and the Chapter for their support. He urged members to extend the same cooperation to the new leadership to enable it to consolidate on the Chapter's accomplishments.

    Delivering the citation of the Chairman, the Chapter highlighted Dr. Fawale's distinguished professional career spanning the private and public sectors, his leadership in audit planning and specialised audit assignments, as well as his contributions to transparency, accountability and anti-corruption initiatives within the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation.

    The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from professional bodies and colleagues, who commended Dr. Fawale's exemplary leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his ability to further strengthen the Chapter and promote professional excellence.

    The investiture marks the beginning of a new leadership phase for the ICAN OAuGF Chapter as it continues to advance professionalism, ethical standards and capacity development in support of the mandate of the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation.
