The Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Mkpe Ayine has expressed the hope that the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation (OAuGF) and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) will have a successful partnership working together. Mr Ayine made this comment when IFAD paid a visit to the Auditor-General to have preliminary talks on areas of partnership and collaboration. The Auditor-General thanked the IFAD for its numerous programmmes in Nigeria which are targeted at empowering and improving the lives of Nigerians especially those in the rural areas. He also expressed optimism that the partnership between OAuGF and IFAD will be beneficial to both organizations while promising the office’s commitment and dedication to the execution of whatever projects are agreed on.
The finance officer of IFAD, Mr. Mikael Anderson who came in company of the finance management consultant IFAD, Mr. Olukayode Ogboye his speech said the organization is exploring the possibility of engaging the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation for the auditing of their projects in Nigeria. The international fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a United Nations (UN) agency responsible for funding agricultural projects in rural communities with the objective of taking rural dwellers out of the circle of poverty. Some of the countries where IFAD is carrying out similar projects include Ghana, Gambia and Liberia.
